The Proposal
This Sunday something powerful happened in my life, and I’d like to share it with you. I recently met a young lady whom I knew that God sent my way.
The moment we planned to go on our first date late last year, I told my children, my Mom, my first wife Yadira’s family and some of her best friends, and my aunts and cousins in NJ/NC.
This went very well as everyone has been more than happy that life goes on for me and my children after the transition of their mom to Heaven.

The Power of Prayer
Now, the video and the pictures here tell most of the story. However, what’s not being said is how God answered two people’s prayers who were looking for the right person to spend the rest of their life with.
In my prayer, I had asked the Lord that this time around the woman would know that I’m supposed to the one for her, and then I would know based on what she shares with me of her story. Sometimes you may have to go out on a limb, but if you trust God you’ll find out He’s always got your back.
In no uncertain terms, it happened exactly like this. She knew first, and was perplexed as to what all this meant. By the time she told me about it last year, I knew she was to be my new wife whom the Lord had chosen for me. That’s when we started the courtship.
So today, I asked my wonderful friend and Pastor William Tavarez of Puerta del Rey church in Isabela whether I could propose to her after the service. He was more than happy to oblige. In fact, he stopped everyone from leaving so I could make the announcement.
I Propose
So, I called Jocelyn up at the end of the church service, and she had no idea why I was calling her up as I had started sharing about our next Business Meeting at the church.
She was more than surprised when I pulled out the ring to propose to her. She was so happy (see the video and the pics for yourself). But, seriously, I knew I had just taken one of the most important steps in my life to return to the state of being married soon.
Why are so many afraid of marriage?
While at it, I want to dispel the myth as to why so many people are afraid of marriage. Many look at the stats and decide they’d rather live with each other like friends with benefits, meaning without a proper covenant (signed papers before the judge at the very least).
Now, if that’s you, let me help you here with a little tough love. This is your life, are you kidding yourself? Covenant equals commitment and it cuts both ways. But many equate marriage to a contract, which it’s not.
A covenant says I will serve and I will give all of myself, while a contract says I will only serve to some extent and give to some extent lest I get used and abused.
Most will say we each bring 50/50 to the marriage, but you’re supposed to bring 100% of yourself, not 50! The most important aspect of marriage is that God decreed it from the garden of Eden, when He declared “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife, and the two shall be one.”
There is a blessing that comes upon marriage and it’s from God. The wisest man in the bible, Solomon, even declared that “[a man] who finds a wife finds a good thing [in marriage] and obtains favor from the Lord.”
Is Marriage for you?
So, if you’re reading this and not sure whether marriage is for you, let me help you. If you have a woman in your house and you have all the advantages but you’ve not committed to her, it’s time to marry her.
It’s time to make your intentions clear and obvious. Buy her that ring and propose to her, like I did to my now fiancee. And then set a date to marry her! Trust me, you’ve just entered into favor at that point and you’ll experience it in your life like never before.
Finally, I want to thank Abdiel who put this video together, and Leilany Herrera who took the pictures, and Pastor William Tavarez for declaring a powerful blessing over us on this day, and the church at Puerta del Rey for being wonderful witnesses of this process, and now you too!
Much love,
Pierre A. Laguerre
P.S. If you don’t currently fellowship with a body of believers, I invite you to find a local church body where they believe in the power of prayer, miracles and the supernatural kingdom of God that brings love, joy, and peace in every part of your life including your health and wealth (the two key aspects of life that everyone is most concerned with).
P.P.S. Men, a church may be the best place for you to fellowship and develop relationships, and see how God can bring you favor, especially if you’re looking to settle down and raise a family. I can attest to it now twice in my life!
So happy for you Pierre!!! Congratulations to you both.
